40/60
Given what I do for a living … teach
and given WHO I teach … some smart people …
I need to take in 40% new information (about art, sociology, science, etc) and teach 60% of what I know.
At this time of the year I’m about 1% learning and 99% out flow …
This is hard for me.
I really like learning things and right now I do not have the time.
I learned a lot of...

ReBlog: Food Democracy Now: Help Break Up Monsanto
realcleverscience:
Many will agree with this; many won’t. I don’t want to argue, but am reposting this email I received for those who are interested.
=============================
Last year the Department of Justice and U.S. Department of Agriculture held a series of 5 hearings investigating anti-competitive practices in the food and agricultural sectors. The hearings were historic and gave a...

Women in the World Summit
Watching Christine Amanpour’s C-Span panel discussion on women. Oh, Saudi Arabia, really? You still won’t discuss the fact that women cannot drive? That it would be dangerous for women to go out alone? How about some laws that make it illegal to assault women?! Perhaps the men should control their urge to assault an escorted woman!!!
That might an idea!!!
WTF!!

Animals make life happier!
amycarr:
thecaleb:
Reading articles about animal neglect and cruelty is so much more painful then reading articles about humans killing each other.
I’d have to agree.
I totally agree with this.

Home....
I’m home from doing some work travel and fun travel in San Fran over the last week. It was far rainier in San Fran than I wanted it to be but I learned a lot and had a great time.
I’m sure a few photos of fun and food in San Fran will be appearing soon here on my blog.
I sure am not ready to face the next 7 weeks! The spring academic gauntlet is relentless! Kiss reading for fun...

iPad2
OK - I finally resigned myself to ordering an IPad2 online. It is the only way to get what I want and I really think this is the transition to the “next big thing”.
After a week of not being able to buy a 3G iPad, I think we are seeing the corner turn.
The next generation of computers will have an iPad2”esk” detachable hard drive and keyboard and will be...

San Francisco...
Been here in San Fran for about 4 days. Terrific town! But I gotta say, I still am more of an East coast sort of girl. Boston might still be my favorite city. Most of the time I do think it would be naturally prettier here though. Of course, it is early spring and it is rainy, but I do like my old East Coast architecture. I cannot imagine how gorgeous this town was before the 1906 quake and...

Must Travel to Learn SOON!
I miss traveling to learn SO much! I need to be plopped someplace “foreign” to learn about something I do not know about.
SOON!
I love learning so very much and I need to do some learning - about almost anything.
I learn best when traveling - not vacationing, TRAVELING!
I NEED to travel and learn. I do not care where or what topic the learning is. I just want to learn about...

Dana Tanamachi: Chalk Murals
lostindecoration:
So a few months ago I posted about chalkboard paint in an article called Drawing on the Walls, and it’s been one of my most popular posts amongst my followers. Well now more than ever I want to break out the chalkboard paint, and I imagine you will too, because this incredibly talented Brooklyn artist Dana Tanamachi is drawing the most beautiful chalk murals and I want one....

Be curious...
sahmjo:
Never let anything come between yourself and learning. I was handed a huge opportunity today just because I was curious.
Turns out professors love to tell you what they’re researching, and after over an hour of pleasant conversation I have so many opportunities open to me that I never thought were possible.
Ask questions, learn, and always be curious.
YES! This is what real learning...
